Game Spy

You then will want to make sure that GameSpy loaded with the game. There should be a shortcut on your desktop. If not, it's located in the folder where you installed DTR. This is typically the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Ratbag\Dirt Track Racing

This is where you find other people to race with online. When you open it, it will look something like this image shown here.

When someone starts a server, that server is registered with Gamespy. When you first open GS, hit the refresh button in the top left corner. That connect to the Gamespy server and get the list of servers currently running. They will be listed in the large box on top. The name of the server is on the left, with the track that they are currently running listed on the right. Try to pick a server that has a ping listed in green. This is an indication of how good your connection will be to that particular server. Yellow is marginal, don't even try those that are red. Click on the button in the bottom left screen marked "players/rules". This lists the players that are currently racing on that server in the left-hand window. It's a good way to find your racing buds. It also displays the settings and version number of that particular server. It helps to pick a server that is running the same version # that you are....in other words, if you installed patch 1.03, then try to pick a 1.03 server. Finally, when you've found a race that you want to join in the top screen, double-click on it and it will take you to that race. Oh yeah, one other thing. After you leave a race, be sure to hit the refresh button again. Things will have changed while you were racing and you need to update the Gamespy screen.
