Your Setups Don't Follow The Rules!

Since I know someone will call me on this I thought I would just go ahead and discuss it here. Yes, if you start scrutinizing my setups and attempting to apply the rules mentioned above some you are going to find discrepancies. There are a number of reasons for this, the most reasonable of which is the learning curve. As I have learned how to adjust each of the settings and what works best, I have continually been applying that knowledge to older setups. It could be that you are looking at a setup that does not contain tweaks based on my most resent testing results. I would say this reason will account for 90% of the discrepancies you will find. However, the other 10% cannot be explained away so easily.

What I consider to be my two best setups (Oldero and Arlington) have certain properties which are in direct contradiction to the general rules above. I can't really explain why they work as well as they do with these "problems" in them. However, I can tell you this, if I take the "problems" out of them and force them to conform to the above rules, they suck! In other words, the setups which least follow my rules for setting up a car are actually my best setups.

The question then becomes are my rules even valid? I have tried duplicating the "problems" from those setups in some of my other setups and have consistently found that it slows them down. The best I can do is say that these are the rules I use when creating new setups or updating old ones, and, for me at least, they generate setups which turn consistently fast times.
