Overview

For my second full blown dippy game, I chose to re-create another of my favorite arcade/MAME games. This one was a game from 1980 called Carnival and was originally produced by Sega. As with my first game, there are a few changes between the original version and mine.

How to Play

Basically, shoot everything that moves. Keep shooting until you run out of targets or bullets. If you run out of bullets, the game is over. A cow bell will sound when there are 10 bullets remaining to let you know you are running low. If you run out of targets, you move up to the next level.

Keep an eye out for the ducks on the bottom level. Sometimes they lay eggs. If an egg hits the ground, you lose 5 shots. To prevent this, shoot the egg.

The spinning corn cob pipes are also targets. To hit those, you have to shoot around the edge of the box. The longer you wait to do this, the fewer points you will receive for each pipe.

The targets with numbers on them are good things. They give you more shots. As you would guess, the 5 gets you five shots, the 10 gets you ten.

Every few seconds, a bonus box will appear just below your score. If you can weave a shot between all the other targets and hit the box, you get the bonus shown in the box. Sometimes it is points, sometimes it is shots, and sometimes it is bad. If it's bad, don't shoot it.

Lastly there's the bear. Keeping in the spirit of the original arcade game, between levels there is a bear to shoot. The more times you shoot the bear, the more bonus points you earn.

P.S. When you submit a new high score, it won't always show up on the game screen in the next game due to caching issues. However, if you take a look at the scores page, you'll find your new score there immediately.
